Privacy policy

Effective date: 21 October 2026

Road Passport is a travel passport for your car. It is made by Fatih Mehmet Babacan, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app does with your data. In short: your data stays in the car. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and no personal data is sent to us or to anyone else.

What the app stores

Road Passport uses the car's location to find out which region you are in. A region is a province, state, département or similar area. The location is processed in the car and is not stored. The app keeps only:

Raw coordinates are never stored, so there is no record of your routes or of where exactly you stopped.

If the app crashes, it keeps a short technical log of the last few crashes (time, app version and error details) so you can see them in Settings. It contains no location.

Road Passport reads your car's make, model, model year and powertrain type (via the Android Automotive CAR_INFO permission) only to display them on the in-app passport identity page. This information stays in the car and is never stored elsewhere or transmitted. The passport number shown in the app is generated randomly on the car and is not linked to you, the vehicle or any account. The VIN, the licence plate, the odometer and your location are not used on the identity page.

Where it is stored

Everything is stored in the app's private storage on the car's infotainment system. We have no servers that receive your data, and the app does not upload it anywhere.

Sharing

None. We do not sell, share or transfer your data, and we never receive it ourselves.

Network

The app makes one kind of network request: at most once a day, while the car is parked and the app is open, it downloads https://roadpassport.babacan.co/version.json to see if a newer version is available. The request carries no personal data and no account or device identifiers, nothing beyond a standard web request. Like any web request, it shows the internet address of the car's connection to the server that hosts the file (Vercel). We do not use it to identify you. The app makes no network requests while you drive.

This website (not the app) uses Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC, to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends the page address, a random visitor identifier and technical details of your browser and device to Google. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use the reports only to understand how the website is used; they contain nothing about the app or your stamps. Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the cookie notice on this website; until then, and if you decline, only anonymous signals without cookies are sent (Google Consent Mode). You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or block it with a content blocker. Apart from this, the website loads no third party resources.

Permissions and why

Retention and deletion

Your stamps are kept until you delete them. To delete everything, open Settings in the app and choose "Delete all stamps". This cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app also deletes all of its data. Since we do not hold any of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

Road Passport is made for drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; the app sends us no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the new version is released.
